Vision

EL 924 is designed to creat effective alternative that addresses key limitations of Incretine Based therapies like adherence challenges, reliance on appetite suppression, lean mass loss, GI adverse effects and high cost allowing to better address obesity and insulin resistance epidemic on population level

Mission

To create a true mass-market solution for obesity and insulin resistance by bringing the profound and powerful metabolic benefits of gut-reprogramming procedures (metabolic surgeries) into a simple, safe, well-tolerated oral therapy.

2.3 Our Team

A Team Built Together Through Successful Drug Development

Our team was forged through the shared experience of conceiving, inventing, and successfully advancing our own novel therapeutic programs in a startup environment—from initial scientific concept through some of the highest-risk stages of drug development. That work went on to receive international recognition and support from the European Union and the WHO Global Task Force on Cholera Control (GTFCC) for its potential to deliver significant humanitarian impact.

Our core R&D, management, and regulatory team originally came together around a humanitarian mission: developing new therapies for serious gastrointestinal diseases where drug development had been limited by fundamental scientific barriers. Together, we designed and developed two first-in-class therapeutic approaches and advanced them from concept into human clinical development, including Phase II.

One of these programs, our novel first-in-class therapy for cholera and severe secretory diarrhea, originated from technology developed by our team and received international recognition for its humanitarian potential, including engagement with the WHO GTFCC and support from the European Union. This work ultimately led to the formation of HUNADIA, a multicontinental consortium built around our technology and bringing together partners across 10 countries to advance the program toward Phase III.

Solving these difficult therapeutic problems required new technologies and unconventional approaches to gut-localized drug development. Many of the technologies and scientific principles that emerged proved applicable beyond their original indications, creating the foundation for a broader GI-directed therapeutic platform.

That experience ultimately led to EL-924 and a growing pipeline targeting obesity, insulin resistance, inflammatory bowel disease, functional GI disorders, and other GI-driven diseases.

Our scientific foundation was shaped by work at leading academic institutions, including Yale and Vanderbilt, and further advanced through independent R&D and clinical development.

Elaphron was founded to translate this collective experience into a new generation of gut-directed therapies.
